As of January 2005, based on the decree of the Ministry of Health of Latvia from May 28th 2002 osteopathy has been recognized as a method of treatment and got a license as an additional specialty.
Currently there are 24 doctors of osteopathic medicine in the Baltic countries. Only 9 of them have graduated from the Higher School of Osteopathy in 1999, namely: Polna Anda, Millere Laimdota, Shefere Mara, Maksimov Jurij, Gailitis Roberts, Zemitis Andris, Jashinskas Arturas, Bonbinkov Vladimir, Kudrjavceva Elena.
All doctors are members of the Baltic Osteopathic Society (BOS) and are included in the European Register of osteopaths.
BOS is a non-commercial organization founded on the 21st of July 1998 as a professional society unifying people with a Doctor of Osteopathy degree and practice of osteopathy.
An osteopathic physician practicing in the territory of the Baltic countries should:

Be included in the official Register of doctors (of Latvia, Lithuania or Estonia)

Have a "Doctor of Osteopathy" certificate, approved by the qualification committee of the "Baltic Osteopathic Society".
